Garden

February 21st, 2010

It’s nearing the end of February and there’s one other thing on our mind’s, “Home Grown Tomatoes”.  It’s time to bring out the starter trays and get things rolling for the spring.   I’ll get the trays bleached and rinsed today and before we leave we’ll have little heirloom tomatoes (Cherokee Purples, Aunt Ruby’s German Green’s, Lillian’s Yellow, Orange Heirloom…I’m starting to drool!) poking through and maybe some jalapeno’s, habenero’s and marigolds.   The sun has prompted the garlic to shoot up; oh my goodness Spring is on the way!   AND in no time we will be getting ready for the Blaylock Mountain Salsa Competition!  Li will have to have her own label this year; lookout Uncle Sam!

Guy Clark says it best;

                     “Home Grown Tomatoes”

     Home Grown Tomatoes, Home Grown Tomatoes

     What’d life be without home grown tomatoes

     There’s only two things that money can’t buy

     And that’s true love and home grown tomatoes!
