Li’s Activities

September 4th, 2010

Li is making some of the cutest projects at school.  Below is her scrapbook.  The pictures are better if you view individually.   Either way you can see she’s doing a lot of great things at school.

We are accumulating quite a collection of arts & crafts and are keeping it all for now.   I’m glad she’s doing hands and feet and all the other great things about “herself” since she has nothing other than a “Finding Ad” and adoption papers for her earliest years.

The teacher said Li loves art of all kinds and loves music.   The school has someone come in a couple of times a week to do music but I’m not sure if the teacher actually plays an instrument or if they are listening to recordings.   But Li does love to dance.

And her finger print family.  Notice Mommy and Daddy are green and Li is yellow.  Funny, sometimes when I’m low on the B vitamins, I am a little green.

Long Weekend!

September 3rd, 2010

We are always happy to see Friday!  After a quick snack of spaghetti and some very sweet honeydew melon, Li is ready to try out her new Zebra sandals.

Today Li received her first bite at school and she has the “teeth marks” to prove it.  She doesn’t seem worried about it so off we go to play!

POV’s “Wo Ai Ni (I Love You) Mommy” on PBS

August 28th, 2010

Not sure I can watch this, I couldn’t even watch all of the preview, but it’s a documentary following the adoption of an 8 year old Chinese orphan, her journey to America and life with her new family.  I see familiar scenes and even a few familiar faces, I think, in the preview.  It’s on this week but I’m sure you can watch it on the PBS/POV webpage if you miss it and are interested.   It looks heartbreaking to me.

Happy Friday!

August 27th, 2010

We’ve had another bout of sickness with an ear infection but this time Li was able to tell us there was a problem.  We knew she wasn’t feeling well because of a head cold but when she woke Wednesday morning pointing to her ear and saying “ear” it was a relief not to have to guess at what was keeping her up at night.   Friday was a happy day, still a little bit of a cold but the ear is getting better.

Finally, after waiting 3 months, we received her US birth certificate and I was able to update all but one of her documents today.   There’s still one more post adoption visit and a few little things to correct but we are almost finished!  As Li would say “TAH DAH!”

Blowing Kisses to Aunt Gayla, Happy Birthday!

Li’s Black Eye

August 25th, 2010

Friday at daycare Li had a playground accident.   While playing near the swings, a swing seat hit her on the cheek and across the nose.   It was a pretty nasty little hit that happened to occur just before our second post adoption update visit with the agency social worker!   Nothing like showing up at family progress visit with a toddler sporting a black eye!

Baobei (baby) on the Trampoline

August 7th, 2010

At first you might think Li is jumping on a sofa but you’d be wrong, it’s the family trampoline!

She’d just got home from school and should be tired but you can see this girl is ready to go.  She had “smiley” faces on her daily report card so things are starting to become normal with the school schedule.  She’s my happy little baobei!

Godzilla Attacks!

August 1st, 2010

I know Godzilla is suppose to be from Japan but she showed up at our house looking quite Chinese with a little destruction and mayhem on her mind.   This critter really has a thing for shoes especially if they are thrown about so that she can see all of them!

WARNING!  DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME!

In case anyone wonders what it’s like to live in a one bedroom apartment with a toddler, now you know.

Sleepless in Thorn Gap

July 29th, 2010

Li’s not slept well this week, it’s just been a little overwhelming plus she’s getting large amounts of sugar at school.  Here’s a few morning pictures.   She had to have glasses like her Nana with the flip up shade.  Girl is looking good in her new shades

Li has a new baby and for the first time she seems to love a baby doll.  This doll belonged to her great Aunt Virginia.  The night we left for China, Virginia’s health failed and so she never got to see us come home.  She was so happy for us and that Li was finally joining our family.  On Saturday her daughter gave us some of her Mother’s treasures including two sweet dolls.  Li loves them.  In one picture she’s rocking the baby like I do her, by bending my knees and swaying back and forth.   She’s a very sweet Mommy.
