Sleepless in Thorn Gap
Li’s not slept well this week, it’s just been a little overwhelming plus she’s getting large amounts of sugar at school. Here’s a few morning pictures. She had to have glasses like her Nana with the flip up shade. Girl is looking good in her new shades
Li has a new baby and for the first time she seems to love a baby doll. This doll belonged to her great Aunt Virginia who we lost the night we left for China. She was so happy for us and that Li was finally coming home. On Saturday her daughter gave us some of her Mother’s treasures including two sweet dolls. Li loves them. In one picture she’s rocking the baby like I do her, by bending my knees and rocking back and forth. She’s a very sweet Mommy.

Li started her first day of “School”. We decided to call it school instead of daycare because it’s very much like school. She’s in a room with 5 other students and one teacher with an assistant, both are very nice. Li’s room is known as the “Zebra Room”. Next year her class will move up together, so she’ll be with her classmates for several years as they prepare for real school.
We didn’t stay long today, just a get acquainted day, but we plan for her to stay at least 3-5 hours tomorrow. Everyone tells us this is a great place and that Li will love it and after meeting her teacher I know she will.
Here’s a few pictures from her first day. After Dad saw the gym and all the fun balls to play with I thought we’d never leave! He was having a blast and eventually so was Li.
And let me just add, you’ll probably never see her in the same cute outfit twice thanks to her Grandmother’s and her friends.

Li is watching as I add these pictures and finds herself quite funny. And as always this Professor wears her glasses upside down.

We celebrated the 4th at home doing a little of everything there was to do outside but our favorite part of the day was eating fresh corn. Back in the spring Li helped plant the garden corn, well she was in the garden when it was planted. Today we pulled the first ears and as you can see it was a big hit.
She’s our All American Girl!

It’s my first week back to work….well, I’ve been working overtime since March 8th but this is my first week back to a job I get to clock in and out of. Thankfully, Li’s Grandmother’s are here so leaving is a little easier for me, she’s in very good hands.
Here’s a sampling of what I see first thing in the mornings!
Li had a check up with the doctor today….and a few shots…. and all is well. She’s 33.5 inches tall, 3.2 inches more than when she was measured March 29th! and weighs 21.8 lbs, up 1.7 lbs from March 29th. She loves sweet potatoes, fresh fruits out of the garden, cheese, yogurt, tomatoes, watered down Juicy Juice (she’s not wise to that yet) but really most foods. Trey refers to her food selections as requiring “AFDA” (Angie Food and Drug Approval) before Li gets a taste. To Funny!

This week Li turned 20 months old. It’s also our last week of time off together, I go back to work Monday. Years ago I heard Nanci Griffith sing a song which has been on my mind for the last two weeks, I guess because we are moving on to the next phase.
Turn Around
Where are you goin’ my little one, little one?
Where are you goin’ my baby my own?
Turn around and you’re two
Turn around and you’re four
Turn around and you’re a young girl
Going out the door
Chorus
Turn around
Turn around
Turn around and you’re a young girl
Going out of the door
(Turn around and you’re a young wife
With babes of your own)
Where are you goin’ my little one, little one?
Little dirndles and petticoats, where have you gone?
Turn around and you’re tiny
Turn around and you’re grown
Turn around and you’re a young wife
With babes of your own
Chorus
Where are you goin’ my little one, little one?
Where are you goin’ my baby my own.
Of course when I turn around I see the “Nutty Professor”!

OK, I think you can tell someone got caught doing something they weren’t suppose to be doing. You can really see a personality showing through. Oh me! I don’t know what her Dad is going to do in about 14 years.
